Dr. Rovner is an adult psychiatrist with expertise in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. He is certified in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Illinois. Dr. Rovner has worked with psychiatric patients at the University of Chicago Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Northshore Evanston Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Lakeshore Hospital, and Stateville Correctional Center. He has performed forensic psychiatric evaluations for the Cook County Juvenile Court system and the Veterans Administration. He currently works part-time with international torture victims at the Marjorie Kovler Center in Chicago. He also serves on the board of directors and the professional advisory board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.
Prior to becoming a psychiatrist, Dr. Rovner worked as a law clerk to a U.S. district judge, a policy assistant to Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, the chief speechwriter to U.S. Senator Carol Moseley-Braun, and the chief speechwriter to Mayor Daley.
Dr. Rovner attended college at Harvard, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and was elected to the Harvard College chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He did his psychiatry residency at the University of Chicago and then did a fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Northwestern University.
